This Airserco Electronic Speed Regulator part number 8858 is good for controlling the speed for any AC/DC motor up to 8 amps in power. Is good for adjusting the speed without loss of power. It is good for any hand tool that meets the amperage rating and is also good for controlling the heat on a soldering iron or the intensity of a light bulb. The tool just plugs into this controller and the controller plugs into a standard 115vac wall outlet. See the manual for instructions with DC powered tools. While it is new, in the box, it has been on the shelf for a number of years. Maybe a collectable for the right person.
