This is a BOXED SET of VINTAGE MACHINIST MILLWRIGHT TOOLS - Never Used The ideal scaper for bearings, valves, babbitt metal, journals, etc. There are five scrapers in the set Used to shave off miniscule shavings of steel for a perfectly flat plane bottom (or whatever). The slightly concave flat is the "working" side. The tools are dragged across the surface similarly to draw filing except work is done by the sharp edge formed by the concave flat and the rounded back. I understand that they are much harder to master than even wood scrapers. Bearing scrapers are for reshaping worn bearings. You see them advertised in old factory supply catalogs. Purpose was to clean and reshape worn out mill bearings and machine bearings... back when most bearings were either iron faced or bronze faced. They where primarily millwrights tools. The MOUND TOOL CO made millwright and heavy hardware type tools around the turn of the century.
