The Tektronix TFS2020 Fiber Scout Handheld Optical Fault Finder is designed for optical faultfinding requirements. The TFS 2020 is compacted, lightweight and battery operated. This makes it easy to take the unit practically anywhere. It is also easy to use even if one has never tested a fiber before.
The method of TFS2020 FiberScout operation is similar to an OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer ). One difference is the way information about the fiber is displayed. An OTDR displays a trace of the fiber, and requires one to interpret the display and make measurements on the events. The TFS FiberScout interprets the data for the users, and provides a symbolic display that automatically identifies events and displays information about loss and distance.
To determine a fiber's condition, simply connect the TFS 2020 FiberScout to the fiber, turn it on and press the Start Test button. The TFS2020 tests the fiber automatically, and displays the results in straightforward words and symbols. No mathematics to remember. No complex equations to use. No backscatter signals to interpret.
The Tektronix TFS2020 Fiber Scout Optical Fault Finder lets users locate faults quickly so the network can be restored with minimum downtime.
