Tempilstik Temperature Indicators Used frequently for Welding Preheat and Tempering These are brand new, unused temperature indicating sticks or crayons used frequently for welding pre and post weld heat treating. There are 10 each of 300oF. These temperature indicating sticks are manufactured by Tempil Division of Big Three Industries. These are lead and sulfur free indicators and are completely safe when used as directed. There are two primary methods to use these Tempilstiks; 1) Stroke the heated surface with the Tempilstik temperature indicator and a liquid smear will show at the specified temperature and 2) For use below 700oF, mark the workpiece before heating and the mark will melt when the specified temperature is reached.
