303 Stainless Steel Round Rod 1.5' dia. x 12' long 303 Stainless Steel Round Rod 1.5" dia. x 12" long 303 stainless steel is the most readily machineable of all the austenitic grades of stainless steel. Sulphur or selenium and phosphorus added to the steel gives it the free machining characteristics, but slightly reduces the corrosion resistance and toughness. The corrosion resistance of type 303 is lower than that for 304. The toughness is still excellent as with other austenitic grades.
